Part I: How to create a website quickly with WordPress?

In this tutorial let’s create a website using WordPress. There are many people who want to create a website with WordPress for writing blogs and starting a small business. Learn with me how to create a website with WordPress.

I will cover everything from scratch in this article all you need to know so far step by step.

Before creating your website make sure you have a Domain and Web Hosting to upload your website if you don’t have web hosting and don’t know how to get it then please check out my article How To Buy Domain Name, Web Hosting And Set Up Database?

Let’s get started building a website with WordPress. In this article, I will consider Godaddy and Localhost servers to explain the required steps we need to follow.

Step 1

Uploading files

Download the latest version of the WordPress zip file from https://wordpress.org/download/ and upload it into your server’s /public_html folder and unzip it. If you are setting up WordPress into your localhost then move WordPress zip file into htdocs or www folder and unzip it.

Step 2

Creating a database

If you want to know how to build a database with Godaddy’s cPanel then please check out Step 3 in my article How To Buy Domain Name, Web Hosting And Set Up Database?.

If you are using the localhost then access PHPMyAdmin then click on the ‘New’ link from the sidebar menu.

Provide a relevant name to the database similar to your website name. Make sure to save database name, username, and password to a safe place because we are going to add it to WordPress setup.

Step 3

Loading WordPress and selecting the language

Load your website URL to run the WordPress setup. For example www.myfirstwebsite.com and for localhost users localhost/myfirstproject you will be auto redirect to /wp-admin/setup-config.php path (www.myfirstwebsite.com/wp-admin/setup-config.php)

You will see the option for selecting default language for WordPress, in that you can select English for the best experience or you can go any liking language option.

Click the Continue button for the next step.

Step 4

WordPress welcome message

In the next step, you will see WordPress welcome message and information about you will need to know the following items before proceeding.

  1. Database name
  2. Database username
  3. Database password
  4. Database host
  5. Table prefix (if you want to run more than one WordPress in a single database)

Click on the Let’s go! button for the next step.

Step 5

Entering database information

In this step, you have to enter the Database name, username, password, database host and database tables prefix which we created in step 2.

You can get the database host from your server cPanel or just left the field with the text ‘localhost’.

Click on the Submit button for the next step.

In the next step, you will see the Run the installation button, click it for the next step.

Step 6

Finalizing WordPress setup

This is the final step of the WordPress setup. Enter the Site Title which should be relevant to your domain or business concept.

Be careful while entering the Username and Password field input because this is going to give you access to the Website backend (WP Backend) or call it to control panel which only administrator or editor supposed to have.

Enter your email in Your email field, this will be your registration email so if in future you forget your WordPress password you can recover it from this email.

Click the Install WordPress button to finish the setup.

Step 7

Logging in

You will see a success page where you can read your WordPress username and a Login button.

Click the Log In button, it will send you to the WordPress login page. Enter your currently generated username and password to log in.
